...time flies by...and did they rides horsies...

As with most good intentions....between work and some medical I have have had a pretty unproductive month blog and sorta-mini wise.

In truth I have been painting a little almost daily, but alas nothing finished...just numerous pieces nearing completion lol.  shall see...been slogging away at my 28mm naps, both Prussian Landwehr and French line troops.  might have a Prussian battalion or two done by Sunday...fingers crossed.

Got some good news in the email department...a number of Avatars of War boxes are on their way across the pond...looking forward to adding more fantasy regiments to my growing horde.  Might even think about trying my first "unboxing" with these as they are not seen that often this side of the globe...

(Oh...I have a Napoleonic question for those who might be knowledgeable...would it be "ok" if I attached a mounted battalion commander to 1st battalion in a regiment?  both Prussian and french line?  I am wanting to differentiate between the battalions and thought having the 1st battalion with a commander on horseback instead of walking would work...plus it looks cool.  lol.  welcome input)

well, hope all are well and enjoying their little toys.

Cheers

...painting Napoleonic...the horror!

Been a minute since I last posted...easy to forget as the days get busy...but alas, I have not been entirely quiet on the miniature front!  Since last post, I assembled, primed and began the arduous task of painting three battalions of French Line...all I can say is ARRRRRRRR!  Wow, now I know why Napoleonic gamers are so passionate about their hobby...you have to be in order to subject yourself to all the cords, buttons, pom-poms and all the myriad decorations covering the little buggers!!  Albeit...when you finish one...you feel some real satisfaction LOL.  (I never painted a 40k army, but I am going to say I bet they share similar moments of ARRRRRRR! with the number of minis and all the accouterments they each have...)

Still, I am determined to keep on....in fact, I have a box arriving tomorrow with Prussian Landwehr from Warlord Games and a few French mounted officers to bolster my French Line battalions.  Will post pictures when I complete the initial French battalions...

On another front, not sure if anyone follows Kickstarter projects, but I have been following along with one that has peaked my interest...Pulp City kickstarter.  Basically, it's a superhero miniature game.  I remembered the game from a few years ago, but never really checked it out...the company seems to be revamping the rules and mini line and so far, they are doing freaking awesome with their project...I have considered pledging for the Supreme level just to get a hold of the new rule-book and some minis...interested in seeing if it is a decent beer and pretzel game for a Saturday night...plus, who doesn't want to paint up a superhero!   These are two "teams" I would like to paint and play with...

...naps...the frenchie type...

Work has been early morning to late night of late.......but I found some time tonight to break away and sit down for a spell at my corner mini desk...

The other night I was reading a book on battles and spent an hour reading on post-Waterloo...and as usually happens I began to formulate a plan haha.  I have a number of boxes of Napoleonic plastic minis floating around from numerous starts and stops from past 28mm Napoleonic projects over the years, but only a small number built and smaller still painted....and thus once again I have decided to tackle this era in 28mm!

As I already have a 12 month project in the works for a "HUGE 28mm MASS FANTASY BATTLE" game sometime in December '14, why not add another 12 month project to the mix allowing me to break the monotony of just fantasy minis???  Not sure if this is wise, but I am going to give it a go...two massive projects in one year....yes, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed presently LOL.

So...tonight began the first of many Napoleonic boxes to assemble.  No real plan at present on Order of Battle etc.  Figure I will just build what I have and then decide where I am at in a few months.  I figure if I am even 75% completed with either project by year's end...I will have enough minis to have some fun games in both genres.  So.....
...28mm plastic Napoleonic...French Line 1815 (Perry)...

Well, back to the desk for some final mold-line cleaning and preliminary basing.

Best dicing to all!
